Two Water Sports You Have To Try out This Coming summer
Water skiing and wakeboarding are water sports you can learn and try in a day. Both sports will be needing a tow boat, cables and lots of balancing on your part. Surprisingly, there are lots of resort hotels that come with lessons for you to learn in under a day. You’ll notice that many beginners that learn how to wake board or water ski in half a day.
What is Water skiing?
You will need a pair of skis that’s made particularly for skimming the water’s surface. The the equipment is slightly different from the gear you use to ski in snow. A cable will be attached to the boat and then you will be riding in the wake of the boat.
There are some people who use only one ski rather than a pair of skis. This is an advanced technique. People can maneuver quicker with only one ski.
Wakeboarding
Wakeboarding is a relatively new sport, compared to other water sports. It was accidentally discovered by several surfers who tried using modified surfboards instead of skis for water skiing. Wakeboarding quickly became mainstream with equipment designs made for the sport and its fans. When a wake boarder rides, he attempts to maneuver around and over the mini-waves that the tow boat creates.
In wakeboarding, a board that is slightly smaller than the smallest surfboard is used. The board used in wakeboarding resembles a skateboard without the upturned side. The bottom is not flat but rounded in order to skim the surface of the water more effectively. There may also be fins under the board. Liquid Force Wakeboards is one good wakeboard that you should check out.
Safety Equipment
A helmet and pads for the arms and legs are needed in both water sports. If you hit the water at top speed, you may feel like you hit cement. Make sure your suit can also cover your arms and legs.
Apart from the boat driver and the rider, a third person ought to be present. A spotter can be an observer. The driver cannot keep looking back to check on the rider. Even when the rider is a professional, there should be someone there looking out for him. The spotter will also be the one to tell the driver if there are problems, so that the boat can slow down and the rider can be fished out of the water.
